IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY / ARTGR 270 / PROJECT 2 / FALL 2015
Originally the assignment was designed to have the students take project one and change the color and type to fit a predetermined audience. I redesigned the assignment to have students work on their presentation skills, research skills and critical/creative thinking skills. The reception on the redesign of this assignment was spectacular.
Project two of the course was a project I created for the students on my own based on the objectives of all the sections. The students were not excited for the project and felt as thought they were just going to repeat project one. I redesigned the project to meet the objectives of the course while also giving the students a better opportunity to work on their research, critical and creative thinking skills. They practiced presenting their work continuously as if presenting to a client. They engaged in both small and large group discussion. The project objectives were to understand how graphic messages can be tailored for different audiences, to be able to identify key attributes inherent in a client’s products or services, to be able to make decisions about message based on target audience and finally to be able to manipulate form, color and typography to alter graphic messages.
