GRAPHIC DESIGN

Louisiana state university shreveport 50th anniversary logo

Design  |  Logo  |  Trademark

Logo designed for the celebration of Louisiana State University Shreveport's 50th year. After going through many approval committees, the logo was used across campus in many facets including course catalog design, stickers, and coca-cola bottles.

As the celebration of the 50th year came to an end, I was also tasked with redeveloping the logo to be an established logo for the campus.  What you will see included is the logo, the use on campus and the redeveloped mark.

Texting and Driving

Design  |  Hand drawn typography  |  Campaign Project

Hand drawn typography as illustration.  Typography was drawn by hand and transferred to the computer. Words within the skull are representations of either words that are texted, sayings that are said after you crash, or words that represent what happens when you text and drive, like becoming brain dead or death.

The words underneath the skull are laid out to look like the spine of the skull but they are also the slogan for the campaign.

typeface design

Design  |  Hand Drawn Typography  |  Typeface Design

The concept for this typeface was based off of the impossible triangle. This typeface is called Penitus Extra. The name means inward, which relates back to the impossible triangle. The impossible triangle is constantly moving in on itself.

Punctuation design

Design  |  Punctuation  |  Branding

The concept for this branding project was to create a set of three punctuation marks and create a continuity to brand them together.  The purpose of branding them was to inform the public about the new marks.

symbology

Design  |  Symbology  |  Social Awareness

It was my hope to tell such serious story like this one that depicted sex trafficking and children in a way, that did not give way to too much graphic information, but was still impactive to imply what actually happens to the poor children and adults who go through this.

The style was created so that each characters were faceless, and did not depict any one type of person that this could happen to.

I did the story in only three colors, even though later a fourth color was added. The colors were black, white, and red. Later green was added as a dramatization to the scene in which the man stood inside the room with money. The red was used only as emphasis for important information in each scene. It was used to distinguish a loving character from the ones with
black hearts. It was used to emphasize items in the story, to direct the eye of the Viewer, and to show importance.

Black and white were chosen because I wanted the illustration style to be as simple as possible, and so that my illustrations could stand on their own without color adding them to tell the story.

No sound is used in the animation because illustrations were designed to tell the story without any help from sound or written words.
