town hall meeting

Wednesday was Iowa State University, College of Design, Graphic Design's Town Hall meeting.  (Wow was that a mouth full)  Anyways it is always a great experience going to these meetings.  It is fun to watch everyone get fired up and care about school. Students feel like they are finally being listened to.  They can ask their questions. They get to know what speakers are coming to visit....Free pizza is another added bonus.

Bernard Canniffe presented about past speakers and future speakers. I may sound like a person who is sucking up, but I promise I am not. Bernard is pretty much the bomb.  The passion he has for education and the students is inspiring.  I hope I have the ability to inspire students the way he does some day.

I have been lucky to have such an amazing education with the instructors who have taught me. Bernard Canniffe, Alan Mickelson, Michael Blair, Heather Purdy, Jamie Horner, Kurt Stahr, Paula Curran, Sung Kang, Paul Bruski, Anson Call, Carol Faber, Fred Malvin, Penny Sullivan, Emily Morgan, John Cunnally....and so many more.

It is awesome to finally get to look at meetings like this from another prospective.  There have been a few times in my educational career as a student where I wondered if anyone actually ever cared about the student's needs.  Well they do, but sometimes the students don't get to see it.  Now they are, and they are being pushed to ask questions and ask why are we doing this project.  It is great to see the college of design making a huge step forward. It may get crazy, but as long as well hold on and paddle together we will make it down the river in one piece.
