After they each stood in class and pitched to me their non-profit they were tasked with voting on one that could use our skills the most and the non-profit that we could have a more impactful relationship with. In the end a local homeless shelter named Hope House was chosen as the non-profit we would reach out to. It took us a little while to get into contact with them as they only have one main lady name Donna running the show.
A lot of work has already gone into working with Hope House, and learning about what is they all do for the homeless community. The students have now broken into groups like art director, creative team, web team, pr, and documentary team.
The creative team has been working with all the students to come up with proposed logo ideas and gathering the color palette. We team is creating wire frames and gathering information for the website. PR is reaching out to organizations on campus to bring more opportunities to Hope House and bring media attention to the work they are doing.
Today we are all heading over to Hope House to gain final research information as an entire team. This will lead the students coming back and completing the first draft of designs and beginning production for the midterm where they will be pitching to the client a proposal that showcases the research they have been doing.
Below are examples of what the students came up with after the word list exercise.
