This year I was approached by 1340 Art Magazine to submit one of my photographs to be published in their magazine! Unfortunately, I wasn't published in this round of the print edition, but I was published as a showcase artist on their blog! Feel free to check out the link below to check out what they posted!
http://1340art.com/post/164196893622/samantha-c-barbour-united-states I don't like to brag but I am really proud of myself because I overcame something that made my anxiety levels rise. I forced myself to develop a piece of art for a competition/gallery show. I have never created anything for the purpose of a competition. I have always entered work after just making something for fun. It was inspiring and terrifying. I also forced myself into a new medium and a new canvas size. (Acrylic 48''x36'') I am happy to say my work was accepted for the show that was held on Friday the 13th, at Art Space in Shreveport, LA.
It was so lovely to be a part of this gathering of creative minds. I was lucky enough to win the sponsors choice award too!! Below is what ArtSpace wrote about the winners. What is even more exciting is that my painting is getting sold too! First ever painting I have ever sold. Congratulations to our InGRAVED award winners $1,000 Best of Show: Sarah Burns $500 Best of Discipline: Susan Fortenberry $500 Best of Discipline: Literary: Kathryn Usher $500 Sponsor Choice Award: Samantha Barbour $300 Juror’s Choice: Molly McCombs $300 Juror’s Choice: Rod Talbot $300 Juror’s Choice: Karen Drott McCain And a special thank you to our sponsor Forest Park Cemetery who paid for these awards! We had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the students visiting Digifest South this week! Students were able to play with adobe photoshop, corel-painter, and sculptris. Looking forward to meeting the next in a year! #digifestsouth #digifest #lsus #digitalarts#lsusdigitalarts
